일본 시모노세키에서 태어난 이태경은 어린 시절 ‘조센징’이라 불렸다. 가족은 더 나은 삶을 꿈꾸며 북한이 선전한 ‘지상낙원’을 믿고 북송선을 탔지만, 그가 도착한 곳은 낙원이 아니었다. 북한에서 그는 다시 ‘째포’라 불렸고, 감시와 침묵 속에서 살아남는 법을 배워야 했다.

의사가 된 뒤에도 그는 죽어가는 아이들 앞에서 아무것도 할 수 없는 현실을 마주한다. 무상치료라는 말은 허상이었고, 체제는 진실보다 연기를 요구했다. 결국 그는 아들과 함께 탈북을 결심하지만, 자유를 향한 길은 중국과 미얀마의 국경, 수용소, 배신과 공포를 지나야만 했다.

대한민국에 도착한 뒤에도 그의 여정은 끝나지 않는다. 아버지의 고향 경주와 어린 시절의 시모노세키를 다시 찾지만, 그 어디에도 그를 온전히 맞아주는 고향은 없다.

< 에브리웨어 앤 노웨어 >는 북송 재일동포 탈북자 이태경의 증언을 따라 한 인간이 빼앗긴 이름과 고향을 되짚는 다큐멘터리다. 그는 ‘조센징’이었고, ‘째포’였으며, ‘탈북민’이었다. 그러나 그 어떤 이름도 끝내 그를 설명하지 못한다.

Born in Shimonoseki, Japan, Lee Tae-kyung was once discriminated against as a "Zainichi" (Korean in Japan). Lured by North Korea's propaganda of a "paradise on earth," his family boarded a repatriation ship, only to find themselves trapped in a dystopian reality of surveillance and silence. Even after becoming a doctor, he faced a system that demanded political acting over saving dying children.Decades later, he made a perilous escape through China and Myanmar to reach South Korea. Yet, his journey never truly ends; neither his father's hometown of Gyeongju nor his childhood home in Shimonoseki offers a true sense of belonging. Everywhere and Nowhere is a poignant documentary following Lee's testimony, tracing a life stripped of name and homeland—defined as an outsider everywhere, yet belonging nowhere.
